Ratan is a young boy whose life changes when he watches Dil To Pagal Hai, the second installment of the film. He starts to learn about his culture, language, family history and identity. This leads him on a quest to find his grandfather. Ratan travels across India and uncovers surprising truths about himself, his family and community along the way. Through his experiences he learns about the sacrifices his grandfather made for his family and community to survive through tough times. Ultimately, Ratan realizes that love, loyalty and friendship were all inside him the whole time. But like many young Indians like him, he had to discover it for himself.Director Partho Ghosh discovered Amit Trivedi in school while he was singing a Hindi song. The rest of the cast was selected through open auditions held in India, Philippines and South Africa.The film received positive reviews from critics. According to The Times of India , "Dil To Pagal Hai 2 is not just entertaining, it also tells us something about ourselves. It is a lesson about how we should remember those who fought for us and those who made us what we are today."
